A typical conversation with the Hubby

He usually calls me mid morning from work. This morning it went kind of like this:

Him: What are ya'll going to do today?

Me: I don't know. The weather is ugly.

Me: But, we need diapers and Pampers are on sale at Target.

Him: (after I barely get the word Target from my lips) My gosh, you'll think of any excuse to get you to Target. (laughing)

Me: It's not an excuse, they are 2 for...

Him: (interrupting me..) ...So, go to Target honey.

Party Success: Whew!

The party was great. We had 75-80 guests and everything went as planned, the food was delicious, the cake was even better and Delaney stayed in a great mood the entire party! That latter is what I was most worried about!

It was a very special day. The birthday girl was as cute as ever.

The cake, well, see for yourself...
You might notice she got in the pink icing on her flower a little early.

The party cake... white cake with half pineapple filling, half strawberry.

She was so delicate with her cake, she didn't even get that messy!

She got so excited about her presents, it was adorable.

She was indeed the birthday princess! A tired one at the end of the day!

One Year

Babygirl,

Just one year ago you made your grand entrance into this world, into our lives. In more ways than one this year has flown by; in other ways not so much, beacause I have truly made the effort to soak in every moment of everyday.

I spent so long preparing for your birth. I knew I would love you. I knew you would make me smile, cry and laugh. I knew you would be ours, our baby girl. But, until that very moment at 4:29 a.m. a year ago, I didn't fully understand just how much love I could gain for one, tiny person in the matter of just a few seconds. People tell you over and over, how much you will love your child. You believe them, you know its true; but, you can't fully comprehend the meaning of that love until you experience that moment, of becoming a mother or father, for your very own.

I waited so long for you. Believe me when I say that. There were days that I thought you'd never come. There were days when you couldn't come fast enough. Then one day you were here. One day I was a mother. You turned me into the person, the mommy, that I always dreamed of being.

When you were a newborn I spent hour after hour just holding you. You were so precious, calm and peaceful. You soon learned to smile and coo, then you were crawling and pulling up, then there was standing and soon to be walking. Every day is bright and new. Everyday an adventure.

You have brought me so much joy, love, and laughter. I can only imagine what's to come. Your wonderful smile, blue eyes, and sweet, charming personality brighten every day. As your first year comes to a close, I only can hope and dream that every one to come is just as bright.

Thank you, angel baby - for being my baby girl.

Happy 1st Birthday.

I love you,
Mommy

Snowed in: not by the white kind

I'm here, somewhere ... Underneath all the party supplies, food orders, Multiple to-do lists, cleaning supplies, birthday gifts and a lot of thoughts regarding how quickly time passes and that I'll have a 1 year old on Saturday...

I. Can't. Believe. It.

Oh yeah, and just in case I'm the last one figuring it out - Parties, especially big ones like this one has become, are just plain stressful and expensive.

Martha said yesterday that "Baking is a Science"

Maybe that's why I can't bake cookies worth eating. I hate science.

A tag, a tag!

In an attempt to start crawling out of my funk I'm going to finally do this tag. The sweet Marisa tagged me to share 5 random things about myself with you all. So here we go.

~ I have this think about grapefruit. Ack. Can't do it, the smell, the taste, even hearing the word makes me gag and most of the time puke. I closed my eyes to type it. My sisters get a real kick out of it and will say the word over and over and over when they want to drive me crazy.

~ I still have and sleep with my baby blanket. Go ahead, laugh. I don't care.

~ If I go anywhere in the car I have to have a drink. I don't know why but I do even if its just a few minutes of a ride. And I always get a to go drink when eating out.

~ I can't eat ketchup on french fries unless I put pepper in it. (I know your all thinking I'm kinda weird at this point.) But try it... I think you'll agree its pretty good.

~ I sometimes join in when the guys play cards and when I do I usually take their money even though I don't really know what I'm doing... I think that makes them mad.

Alrighty, because I've been a little distracted, I don't know who has done this and who has not. So...if your reading this and have not been tagged to share your 5 random things - I tag you!
